Meet Destiny

Destiny is an 8-year-old, little black girl who is a very lucid dreamer.

Each night she goes to sleep, she lives a full day in the life of a new career.

One night a doctor, another a firefighter; or one night a judge, and another a singer, or even a CEO.

Her collection covers a multitude of different sectors, so there is variety of options parents and children can choose from.

In each book Destiny teaches key facts of that job, from the education path, to the application process, to doing the job itself. All the way highlighting both the good and the hard.

Each book is also composed using a different rhyming structure to help children remember the facts and information with ease, and is filled with full colour graphics and illustrations.

These books can also prove useful for adults interested in a career change.

She inspires children of all ages, races and backgrounds, but especially little black girls to join her in changing the world by becoming the best they can be in that role. Giving them representation so they can see, what they could become, as long as they are dedicated, driven and can dream.

Destiny's friends and fans are called 'Dreamers', cause they wont stop till their achieve their dreams and become all they have been created to be.

The sky is no longer the limit!

About Author

Leona Bundy was born and raised in Leeds, UK and is of Caribbean descent.

She has an A Level in English Literature and has been writing short stories for all ages since the age of 12. All filled with mystery, adventure as well as education.

However, after the 80’s and 90’s showed very little representation for her in her own ‘educational literature’, as well as now for other little black girls to follow, Leona came up with an idea.

She says,

“There has always been a desire to fill a need in our educational literature.

Growing up reading greats such as Biff and Chip and Mr Blue and Mr Red Hat was great, but not having any real representation of myself or of any other minorities wasn’t.

This was true, not just in young children’s fiction books, but also in children's educational books too. Later in life it was the same. There was very little representative then too, not just for women occupying certain jobs but even more so for women of colour.

Destiny’s Dreams fills a real need in both of these areas. Even though she's dreaming, she’s dreaming big and showing that certain social glass ceilings can broken.

As a mentor young people, both male and female, this continues to be my aim through writing and illustration, to encourage and inspire.”

Leona is currently seeking for Destiny’s Dreams to be published and not to stop there, but for every career life can dream up to have its own Destiny story.

The dream is that one day Destiny will come alive in animation, teach children songs as they experience a day in the life of each career and even provide school resources for parents and teachers to further children’s learning as well as their own future ambitions.
